"Anger" is the first painting in the "Misfortune" series. This is the first of six works created in 2020 by Ben Banes Aka: Bencasso Barnesquiat. They are part of a multi-media work which includes music videos of the song "Misfortune" by Deadweight (Barnes was the lead singer, violinist, and songwriter of the San Francisco hard rock power trio), music video of a separate song with the same lyrics and title recorded by ben's acoustic rock band Swindlefish from record "Unlucky," released in 2013. A play, poem, lyrics, and another song called misfortune which Ben performs as a guitarist singer songwriter,. "Misfortune" has five other paintings titled "Grief" "Icon" "Rodeo Clown" "Grief Anger" and "Icon Rodeo Clown". The series is programmatic and the story, written as a play whose premise is mental illness, and the "Misfortne" bad luck brings on the character who plays as if none of the bad luck his life has brought him makes him sad or ungrateful. Benjamin Barnes, aka Bencasso Barnesquiat (a comical play on the names of famous artists) is a musician and artist based in San Francisco, CA. He received his Bachelor's and Master's of Music Degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he studied with renowned teachers such as Sherry Kloss, Marlon Carlson, Izzy Tinkleman, Paul Hersh, Zaven Melikian, and Don Ehrlich. In addition to his classical training, Ben also studied electric violin, jazz performance, and composition with David Balakrishnan of the Turtle Island String Quartet.
